Tomorrow the forecast is for some sun and temperatures in the 40s. My friend Brandie and I hope to venture out so I can get some new photos of myself my social media and a new project that I am working  on. Brandie is also developing (haha) a photography business, which I’m pretty excited about.

The winter air has left my skin, particularly on my face, feeling absolutely horrible. So I wanted to take a few minutes extra to moisturize tonight so I can look my best. I don’t wear make up most of the time, but when I do put it on, I want as fresh of a face as possible.

Cue the lips. Ugh, they are dry and peeling and gross. I took to the kitchen to make myself a honey sugar scrub for some exfoliation and moisturizing. Honey is both tasty and a great skin care product. So here is what I did:

Honey Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

  • one teaspoon of honey
  • one teaspoon of brown sugar
  • your favorite essential oils are optional

Combine the teaspoon of honey and brown sugar in a small glass dish, like the kind of dish you would use if you were prepping ingredients for cooking. Put the mixture into the microwave for 10 seconds. Remove and stir thoroughly. If you would like to add a drop or two of essential oils.

Be sure you honey is not too hot before applying scrub. Use you finger to gently apply your mixture to your lips and rub in gentle circles. Remove with a warm cloth and apply your favorite lip balm or chapstick.

Like I said above my lips are NASTY. I did a bit more vigorous rubbing with my scrub, but if you have never done this before be gentle, you can always apply it again in a few days. Also, I needed to groom my eyebrows a bit, so I left my sugar scrub on while doing so. The corners of my mouth got all honey drool-y, it was not an attractive sight. Lastly, I applied my Farmacy Lip Bloom to seal in the moisture and protect my lips from our dry apartment air. I have several different flavors, tonight I used Citrus Lemongrass because the citrusy aroma is nice and cheery. Farmarcy isn’t paying me any money to talk about them, but I do really like their stuff, and my mom may know the man behind the awesomeness.

So there is my little honey beauty tip for you all. What is your favorite way to use honey?
