Maple Sugar Pancake Breakfast and Spinning Demonstration

Maple Sugar Pancake Breakfast and Spinning Demonstration

Seven (7!) years ago I had the privilege to work as an education intern at a central Ohio farm and education center.  On Saturday March 8th I get to go back, this time I will be doing spinning demonstrations on my spinning wheel.  I am so excited to be asked to be a part of the Stratford Ecological Center‘s yearly tradition of Maple Sugar Pancake Breakfast.

It will be great to get out to the barn, greenhouses, and of course the sugar shack again.  I spent many hours on the trails carrying sap to be boiled down into maple syrup in my first weeks of my internship.

I am also incredibly psyched to be sharing what I love with people and getting the word out about how awesome spinning yarn in.  Demonstrations really have become one of my favorite things to do, and I think I’m getting good at explaining the process without becoming overly tired of repeating myself and answering the same questions over and over again.

The breakfast is by reservation only, I am not sure if they have spots available for Saturday, but if you are in the central Ohio area you can call the Stratford Ecological Center to find out and make a reservation.  You will enjoy a breakfast of whole wheat pancakes, sausage, and local maple syrup, you can also enjoy farm tours, and visit the sugar shack to learn about the sugaring process.  It really is loads of fun.

Do you have any memories of maple sugaring?
